Stefan Koehler is currently a Lecturer for the Weinert Center of Entrepreneurship at the Wisconsin School of Business, University of Wisconsin-Madison (consistently ranked among the top 25 entrepreneurship programs by Financial Times and Entrepreneur magazine). He teaches classes in entrepreneurial management and advises entrepreneurs on issues related to launching and establishing their businesses and coaches student entrepreneurs as they start their businesses.
Until April, 2011, Stefan was part of the management team of Epicentre Biotechnologies as Intellectual Property and Technology Licensing Manager. Epicentre is a provider of nucleic acid sample preparation reagents and specialty enzymes. The company was acquired by Illumina Corporation,a leader in next-generation DNA sequencing, in 2011 for $90M. During his 8-year tenure with Epicentre, Stefan initiated the company’s lucrative outlicensing program, developed substantial business development opportunities, and chaired the company’s new product development committee.
Previously, Stefan worked as the Assistant Director of the Entrepreneurship Center at the University of Munich, Germany, and as consultant with KPMG in Munich providing corporate financial consulting to large accounts and start-ups in biotechnology, medical devices, and healthcare.
He is an active member of the Association of Univ. Technology Managers (AUTM) and Licensing Executive Society and was invited to present at international AUTM and LES conferences.
Stefan earned his BS in Microbiology and MS in Molecular Biology with a minor in Patent Law from the University of Munich, Germany, and his M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He also is a graduate of the Entrepreneurship Development Program, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). |
